Puan Kalsom

I realised I haven't had the chance (more of the time, actually) to write about Projek Kalsom,
which was held on August the 23rd.
Since it has long passed,
I vaguely remember the activities that we did,
let alone the names.

Hence, I let these pictures spill the thousands of words that are in my head to describe that most rewarding day I had this summer. (haha)

english time! they translated a jiwang malay song to english, and sang it to everyone. rock kan?

**and all the smiles and happy faces below were captured by Muhsin

the blanket game! (Topaz peeps sure know this one punye!!)

our future engineers

- i should resize the pictures, tapi sangat malas

O0ohh, and
in case u're wondering.

Projek Kalsom is a motivational camp held yearly for Form 4 students who come from less fortunate backgrounds. It is run by Malaysian students enrolled in higher education institutions in the UK and Ireland under the auspices of the United Kingdom and Eire Council for Malaysian Students (UKEC) -

the wonderpets!! (my group)

now the wonder-facis!

it was an exhausting day indeed, but I woke up the next day smiling to a text message on my phone, that reads :

akak chemical engineering!!
tak puas hati la kalsom satu hari je.

rasa motivated sangat nak study skrg =)
akak, nak tanya satu soalan boleh?
macam mane nak improve BI writing?
x confident la akak nak buat..
macam mane??"

i'm not so good myself, but i'm glad i've inspired one person.
and alhamdulillah for the opportunity given.
It may not be big, but this is a start for sure. =D

krringg krringg

when they called, wonderpets!!, i thought they said wonderbats.

wonderbats? coolness! he really came up with a good name for our group.

and having too much pride to ask, I went on with the bats, for the rest of the day.

until, my sister chanted, wonderbats wonderbats kami datang.

i asked silently, how did she know our name?

*sangat slow*

Imagine this.

You're strolling down the pavement in front of your university.
Malaysia's the best. Or, one of the best.
You're carrying a thick book, with heavy signs of wear and tear.
Throwing that oh-so-intelligent look.
When someone appears before you, "Hye!"
A shabby garment donned, a half curved smile given, she continues
"Are you interested in getting a laptop?"

And you walk pass her.

Now tell me, what crosses you mind at that instant?

a. she's an SPM leaver with a shameful result.
b. a college drop out.
c. a graduate with no luck landing a high-paid job.
d. she's plain lazy, with no direction in life, except for promoting.

HA HA. ok la, enough merepek.

I had the chance to be on the other side of the world, and work as a promoter this summer. This is what I call 'dealing with real life customers'. not just doing admin work (hehe).

I get to see a lot of interesting stuffs.
Overall, we do get good responds from students, although some even made an effort to make a huge detour under the scorching sun to avoid us.
And, those who ignore and walk pass us are the most painful. I felt the presence of micropsia and my body was immediately reduced to speck size.
Now I know how it feels like whenever i do the same.

Btw, this is what I promote :

cheers! <33

She wears black.
The same piece of dress.
Everyday, for 365 days.
It's her uniform.
And she's proud of it.
Oh no, no, she's not poor.
Neither is she insane.
She's just amazing.

I admire.

If only I could do the same..

21st June - 30th June 09

8th May 09

22nd July 09 (I like!!)

In Total Support

Date : 22nd - 26th August 2009
Venue : Sekolah Menengah Tengku Mahmud, Alor Lintang, Besut

The training session for facilitators was at Jalan U-thant.
It was Saturday and we got lost in the heart, at the very core of KL.

Especially at Jalan Pudu. When Johann said 'turn left, turn left'
Left we went.
'turn right 200m from here'
Right we went.
And, damn! We were at Jalan Pudu again.
Merely 50m ahead of where we took the left turning.

We were all up and high about the projek.
We were told it's been canceled due to the h1n1 outbreak (i hate u!)
Nobody's life should be put at risk.

In despair, we took our broken hearts to pavillion =(

Teh 3 Layer a.k.a Teh Cekik Darah
RM5 for a simple pre-mixed teh susu.
which explains the 3 layers.
+kedai mamak jual seringgit je! but at least i've tried this one. heh+

btw, i wore baju kurung to the meeting.
dgn hasrat dapat melemahkan mana2 lelaki sejati.
no la, i miss baju kurung. i only brought one to the UK.
and ended up in jeans to kenduri's and makan2.
hence, to those who are leaving soon, do bring along a bagful of baju kurung/baju melayu.

p/s : Johann is yasirah's GPS locator device.

Summer 2009

paranoia is my dancing partner. period.

The plan was to meet up at One Utama.
Because of the fear of going to public places, we ended up at Rasta instead.
which was empty.

the comrade : fatin, milo, yasirah, asma, tamtam. and me!

in the end i was forced to get out from the not-so-comfort zone and went to the curve.
We ran, ran and ran like a bunch of cute (and cuddly too) 5-year-old kids for Pos Malaysia.
Nanti customer marah lambat pos.

Also, we went to Ikea. Where we made a plan to our bright future :
1. marry rich man!
2. buy a house.
3. with interior deco sebijik macam dalam ikea's catalog.
4. live happily ever after.

and i found this. sgt comel..!
i remember :
sunflower, sunflower, in the door. chachacha, chichichi.
